The Rockaria Ruckus was an outstanding success on many fronts. From band performances to the venues sound, lighting and staff service to achieving the intent of fund raising for local community radio the event had many successes. Firstly a massive shout-out to all the musicians that contributed their time, energy and skill for no financial payments, but for the spiritual cause of helping keep a fine radio station on air. While recent change of HFM’s strategy from “Local-all years-all countries” to “Eighties Only 6 to 6” may appear counter initiative to supporting local music the stations afterhours and weekend volunteer crew ensures local WA and Australian music receives full frontal representation on air. Even with last minute line-up call offs (Ballbreaker, Ashes of Autumn then Ojay) due to ‘health’ implications (we wish them all a swift recovery) the show went on. Code Red were last minute front-ups and for me were one of the pivotal acts of the day, with Krissy’ Band of Cheesballs set being one of the showstoppers of the Festival. The event management organization was professional in the extreme. The Rockaria radio team (Frankinator, Ryan, Hugo & Jonno) for getting the event off the ground and into reality (yes, the Rockaria crew are Perth’s ‘Masters of Reality’), Kelly Seitz and her team for endless promotion and managing the mech desk (stand up Haylee Robins and take a bow), Harry the auctioneer for helping drive funds raised to INXS levels of $6,000 plus, and all who contributed to the raffles and items for auction. Kudos to the Lynott’s Lounge venue for stage sound and lights that went without a noticeable hitch. The line-up roll call:- MotorV8ed (blast off), 46 Brigade (earworms), Band of Missfits (new lineup on fire), Triple Engine (power trio Find of the Day), Code Red (face melting), Krissy’s Cheeseballs (All Stars), Nylon Stroke (Rock ‘n Roll Machines), Legacy Alive (smooth and hot), Electric State (crowd all favorites), Amberdown (Rock with Crunch). Lastly to all the Live Music aficionado’s who fronted up and supported the event, helping to ensure that The Circle Remains Unbroken. Keep On Rockin’
