At this first night of a medical mishap fund raising weekend for local, national and international music master mind and drumming legend, James Baker, The Shakeys kicked off proceeding’s with attitude.
In your face Indie rock played with a punk attitude the four-piece ripped off the bandage played a storming set of their home brew compositions with one Johny Thunders cover paying tribute.
With two EP’s, one album release and plenty of gigs and tours behind them they are a compact unit. Jason furiously attacks the guitar if he seems familiar he is (also a member of The Caballeros). Another familiar face (think AC/DC all girl cover band Ballbreaker drum stool duties) Lauren also attacks the drums with the same enthusiasm. Jess on bass strikes the notes and pulls off some fine moves.
Their combined passion is exemplified by the lead vocals that a gnarled, striking and furious. Clare struts the stage on the punk ethos war path.
A great set to kick off the night and the flock of early bird live music aficionado’s appreciated it in full.
