Killswitch Engage went out to give it musical hell and the well and truly succeeded in warming up the early birds and Maiden Army. Their brand of metal core, pumping, driving, stomping wall of sound was brutally engaging. Third song in they espoused their love of Perth crowds and being ‘the best’. As this was their first night of the current tour they were technically correct. However the enthusiastic response of the general admission and opening up of an orbiting mosh pit proven my scepticism incorrect. Having previous visits to Perth/Australia in 2018, 2017, 2013, 2008, 2006, 2005 they may be holding It up to the light. Finishing off their fifty minute set with Dio’s ‘Holy Diver’ they rocked out hard. As I delighted in telling my seating neighbour Columbian Camilo I was privileged to be at Dio’s first live performance when they opened Moster of Rock at Castle Donnington in 1983. I, and along with the other live music aficionado’s can attest Killswitch Engage have a blazing version.
